Today, a purely service-oriented Daily with updates from the Resident Forum with Jeff Weiss (Medical Director) and Justice Gaba (assistant Director of House Staff):

1. The electronic meal cards are now due to arrive late October. The final rules are still to be approved, but it looks like they will allow for $15/day for 6 days/week. Anyone with a Monte ID, including non-house staff, will also be able to put money on the ID and pay at the cafes and cafeterias, hopefully speeding up check-out.

2. To address recurrent complaints about lack of maintenance at Monte housing, Jeff Weiss proposed that we form a 'housing committee' that would meet quarterly to twice yearly with him and the housing folks. Let me know if you're interested and I'll connect you.

3. The phase-in of Outlook to replace Groupwise seems to be delayed, but no clear timeline was available.

4. I ran into Peter Kennelly (Director of Security Services) at the meeting and asked him about adding more doors to the standard set of ID-access-controlled doors so we don't have to call security individually anymore. I am going to email him the following locations: bottom of NW stairwell, hallway to call rooms, blood gas lab (thanks Stella), ED. Let me know if you think of other locations.

5. Citrix (remote access from home) for clinical apps (Carecast, EPF) will be limited to PGY2 and up. PGY1 will get access to non-clinical apps (Groupwise, UpToDate). It's still not clear what the policy for cEMR will be.

Attendance at the Forum was quite low, so maybe send me your concerns, ideas and questions next time so I can bring them up. You deserve to be heard!

For more practical matters specific to the Medicine department and especially for issues on the floor, come to the Resident Council tomorrow at 4pm in the NW8 conference room.
